NEW YORK, NY: Jawbone, the pioneers of wearables, partners with American Express to provide American Express Card Members the option to pay with their latest UP4 fitness tracker. UP4 provides advanced and valuable health and fitness insights by assessing heart health, sleep patterns and physical activities of the user. This partnership marks an industry first where consumers will be using a wearable fitness tracker with inbuilt NFC chip for Amex payments.

To avail the services all one needs is an eligible American Express Card or it be applied for via UP App. While paying with UP4, users are ensured the same security levels as that of American Express Card services. The users have to log in with the same American express User ID and password once they connect to the latest app via android or OS. Once the selection of eligible card is made, users can easily tap and pay with the tracker where American Express contactless payments are accepted in the U.S.

Leslie Berland, Executive Vice President, Digital Partnerships and Development at American Express says, "We believe this unique technology will delight our active, digitally-savvy Card Members in a powerful way and drive a new type of engagement at hundreds of thousands of merchant locations nationwide.”

Payment can be done in just three steps: check out the contactless symbol on the in store checkout terminal; tap the contactless symbol on the UP4 tracker to the terminal and the A confirmation on the terminal will signal a successful payment. In case of loss or theft of card, users can deactivate the card and the authorization token will become useless.

“We’re delighted to partner with American Express to launch UP4, our most advanced and stylish tracker that’s small enough to wear 24/7,” adds Travis Bogard, Vice President of Product Management and Strategy at Jawbone. “They provided the innovative and forward -thinking approach needed to create this new experience, combined with a sophisticated and robust payment system, and a wide range of supported merchants.
